WHY WE RUN

A Run to Honor their Sacrifice and Educate their Legacy. Proceeds from the Patriots Run benefit Folds of Honor Kansas City Chapter, a 501c3 non-profit providing educational scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled American Heroes and First Responders. HONOR YOUR HERO

At packet pickup racers will find a sign that states “Today I Honor_______” . We invite all racers to complete this sign and bring to race day to give to the registration table on arrival. Volunteers will then place these signs around the event to honor the heroes in our community, their service and sacrifice to be a reminder of what the Patriots Run is all about.

LATE START The reason why the Half Marathon and 5k start at a later time than most races is deeply rooted in our mission and values. Our individual ultra runners and teams will be running for 9 hours and 11 minutes, with some of them carrying 35lb rucks. A significant portion of the runners are also First Responders and military members, who selflessly protect us and our freedoms every day. We have chosen to start the half marathon and 5k in the afternoon to maximize the number of spectators present at the finish line. We believe that having a large crowd there to cheer on and thank these brave individuals is a small but meaningful gesture of gratitude for their service. It also serves as a reminder to all of us to never forget the sacrifices made on that fateful day in 2001 and to always show appreciation for those who serve our country and communities. At our races, we not only celebrate physical endurance and determination, but also honor the resilience and bravery of our runners.
