the Pacific Coast with discouraged pastors who desire that I return to hold meetings. I will go as soon as funds are available." W e cordially commend our brother to the prayers of God’s people. In our judg ment he is doing one of the most necessary pieces of Christian work being carried for ward anywhere today. It is a fitting climax to fifty years in the Christian ministry. Dr. White is a seasoned veteran of the cross. He came to Biola to be its President in troublous times, but under God’s bless ing was enabled to establish confidence among the churches at large in the ortho doxy of the Bible Institute ministry. We remember his faithful service with gratitude and commend him for service well done. —L. T . T.

A unique and abundantly successful gos pel ministry is being conducted by our es teemed brother, W . P. White, former President of the Bible Institute of Los An geles. He is engaged in highway Bible teaching, particularly in the West Coast states from the Canadian border to the Mexican border. He and his wife travel by automobile and trailer with amplification equipment which is capable of carrying gospel music and message for more than a mile. This Bible teaching ministry has been carried to out-of-the-way sections into areas without a testimony or where that testimony has practically ceased. Dr. White has rendered invaluable service to discour aged pastors in struggling parishes. He says: “I found more than fifty villages on

the dark earth, and grow up amid frost, and bleak winds, and droughts to bless the world, so surely can this bring forth love, and peace, and joy, and all the fruit of God in the lives of men.—M ark G uy P earse . MARCH 3 By the Way "Jesus himself drew near, and went with them” (Lk. 24:15). Go with me, Master, by the way. Make every day a walk with thee: New glory shall the sunshine gain. And all the clouds shall lightened be. Go with me on life’s dusty road And help me bear the weary load. Talk with me, Master, by the way; The voices of the world recede, The shadows darken o’er the land— How poor am I, how great my need! Speak to my heart disquieted Till it shall lose its fear and dread. 'Bide with me, Master, all the way, Though to my blinded eyes unknown; So shall I feel a Presence near Where I had thought I walked alone. And when, far spent, the days decline, Break Thou the bread, dear Guest of mine! r •—A nnie J ohnson F lint .

MARCH 1 First in Service

"And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach” (Mk. 3:14). Do we realize that one of the greatest purposes of our calling is that we might be with Christ? It is a wonderful thought, that we should have fellowship with the Son of God. He wants our friendship. Often our thoughts are so concentrated on His work that we tend to forget Him, and we wonder why our work goes wrong. First of all, He appointed the twelve that they might be with Him. Put that first in all your service. —A. S t . J ohn T horpe . "Y e have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit” (John 15:16). He who has made the gospel of His sal vation effectual for our salvation, can He not make it effectual for others too? Be quite sure of the harvest. This seed is the Word of God, and as surely as the seed- corn is fitted to the earth, so surely is this fitted to men’s hearts. And as surely as the com can unfold strength and beauty in MARCH 2 Fruit
