God opening their hearts to each other, especially when they are getting into a cold state, or are under the power of a cer tain sin, or are in especial difficulty,-1 know from my own experience how often the snare of the devil has been broken when under the power of sin; how often the heart has been comforted when nigh to be overwhelmed; how often advice, under great perplexity, has been obtained—by opening my heart to a brother in whom I had confidence. W e are children of the same family, and ought therefore to be helpers one of another. — G eorge M u l l e r . MARCH 28 True Friendship "Faithful are the wounds o f a friend; but the kisses o f an enemy are deceitful" (Prov. 27:6). There is a kind of friendship in the world that is all flattery. It is not so with the Master. If we see a spot on a friend we should tell him. I was leaving a house one evening when an old gentleman called me and told me I had some mud on my coat. Now he did this in love, in order that he might brush it off, and I might walk home respectably. The devil throws mud on our backs, where we cannot see it, but every one else can. Let us be true friends; let us wash one another's feet. — H en ry M o o rh ou se . "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory o f the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit o f the Lord" (2 Cor. 3:18). For you and me there is to be an out shining increasingly of the divine nature which is ours if we are in Christ, a trans formation in our inward and in our out ward life, so that the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose. W e are being c h a n g e d , transfigured, metamorphosed. Here we see a life of progressive trans formation. . . . Then in addition we see in the last sentence the agent, “even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” —M. G u t h r ie C la rk . MARCH 29 From Glory to Glory

MARCH 26 The Human Touch

"And it came to pass, on the next day, when they were come down [rom the mountain, a great multitude met him" (Lk. 9:37, R. V .). Christ’s minister stands between the glory and the majesty of things divine on the one hand and all the paths and the prose of human life on the other. He must be ready at any moment to enter into fel lowship with the skies; and he must be ready at any moment to hurry forth to see a sick child, to comfort a broken-heart ed woman or to share the burden of a man whose load is greater than he can bear. —F.
