HAWKESBURY HAWKS TAKE DOWN THE NEPEAN RAIDERS GREGG CHAMBERLAIN gregg.chamberlain@eap.on.ca

Neither team scored in second period. Third belonged to Rockland, all goals scored during the last half of the period, starting with Aidan Hilton’s power-play point for Rockland at the ten-minute mark, assisted by Jack Sullivan and Simon Labelle. Gunnar Smith extended the lead a minute later, with help from William Collins and Noah Doyle. Emerick Nadeau got Cornwall on the scoreboard with a power-play goal four minutes from the end of the period. Assisting were Riley Brennan and Cedric Matte. Labelle punched in the last goal of the night, a shorthanded one, in the final three minutes of play. Assisting him were Smith and Doyle. The Nats skunked the Ottawa junior Sena- tors the following night in Ottawa, with five unanswered goals. Scoring for Rockland were Cole Craft in first period, assisted by Simon Labelle, and Cameron Last and Joe Jordan in second period, with help from Craft and Aidan Hilton on Last’s goal, and from Last and Andrew Aboumossa on Jordan’s goal. Labelle scored an unassisted shor- thanded goal at the mid-mark of third period. Aboumossa finished the scoring with an unassisted goal in the final two minutes of play. Rockland hosts Navan on December 6, then the Nats face the Bears in Smiths Falls December 10.

The Vankleek Hill Cougars chewed up the Morrisburg Lions 11-3, in their den, Saturday night, at the Vankleek Hill Arena. Punching in two goals apiece and assis- ting on other Cougars’ goals were Nikolas Ayotte, Zacharie Leblanc, and Samuel Lemay. Finishing up the Vankleek Hill score with singles were Shayne Allen, Nicolas Caston- guay, Justin Chaumont, Christophe Quann, and Maxim Rozon. Also assisting on the goalscoring were Castonguay, Chaumont, Quann, Rozon, Ma- thieu Clouthier, Zack Labbé, Trystan Lavoie, Joey Simoneau, and Stamatis Skotidakis. Scoring for the Lions were Braden Kehoe, Wade Moak, and Ben Pineault. Assisting on the goals were Jake Amo, Justice Brownlee, Justin Shay, and Aaron Smith. Riley Phillips and Kamden Sabourin shared goalkeeping duty in the Morrisburg net. The Cougars lost 3-1 to the Clarence Creek Castors, December 1, in Clarence Creek. Quann scored for Vankleek Hill with help from Allen and Castonguay. Frederick Durocher-Bourdon was in the net. Scoring for the Castors were Nicholas Gaumond, Connor Head-Smith, and Logan Lefebvre. Assisting were Gaumond, Lefebvre, Samuel Gaudet, Zachery Payer, Gabriel Rou- selle, and Jacob Servant. Andrew Larivière guarded the net. The Cougars host the Bytown Royals The Hawkesbury Hawks had a good finish to their November schedule with a 7-2 win against the Nepean Raiders. Zachary Lefebvre opened the scoring with an unassisted goal for Hawkesbury during the first two minutes of play November 29 at the Robert Hartley Sports Centre. First period belonged to the Hawks with two more goals in the Raiders’ goal from Mathieu Sabourin and Luke Grainger. Assisting Sabourin were Owen Gonter and Brendan McCarthy, while Lefebvre and Brandon Slawaska helped on Grainger’s goal. Grainger extended the Hawkesbury lead further with another point at the mid-mark of the second period, assisted by Gonter and Azzaro. Jack Miles put Nepean on the scoreboard four minutes later, with help from Matt McQuade and Alex Rossides. Tinling finished off the second period scoring with another Hawkesbury point, assisted by Felix Sauvé and Dovar Tinling. Third period saw Jérémie Payant and McCarthy finish the Hawkesbury score. Sauvé and Lefebvre assisted on Payant’s goal, while Grainger and Patrick Callahan helped on McCarthy’s point. Ryan Stansel scored a final unassisted goal for the Raiders in the last minute of play. The Hawks schedule has them in Navan December 3 and Cornwall December 5. They host Ottawa December 6 then go to Smiths Falls December 8.

Rockland The Rockland Nationals split their last week of the November schedule in the Central Canada Hockey League with a loss to Nepean and wins against Cornwall and Ottawa. Last Wednesday in Nepean, the Raiders beat the Nats 2-1. First-period goals were by Gabby Kioki for Rockland, assisted by Joe Jordan, and William Venne for Nepean, with help from Patrick Larking and Matthen Shan- klin. Beau Binnie scored the winning Raiders’

goal late in second period, with assists from Tyson Tomasini and Colin Cromie. Friday night at home, the Nats corralled the Cornwall Colts 4-1, outshooting the visiting team two to one for shots on the net. Vincent Labelle put Rockland on the scoreboard first, with an unanswered goal during the first five minutes of first period. Assisting Labelle were Joe Jordan and Andrew Aboumossa.

The December 1 weekend was not a good one for Saint-Isidore, losing to the Bytown Royals in last Friday’s road match, then at home Sunday to the Gatineau Hull-Volant. Les Cougars de Vankleek Hill ont complété leur programme de matchs de novembre, samedi soir, en dévorant les Lions de Morrisburg au compte de 11-3. Cependant, ils ont perdu 3-1 dimanche après-midi, à Clarence Creek, contre les Castors.
