the Holy Spirit. In the final analy­ sis, your peace of mind does not depend upon your husband's be­ haviour. It is wholly reliant upon your personal relationship to Jesus Christ. As we said earlier, the most important phrase is that we are al­ ways "in the sight of God." We are never out of it. We are to walk day-by-day and moment-by­ moment in the Spirit. The Bible says, "As ye have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him." This gives us the necessary strength no matter what the outward prob­ lems are. The third thing then is to com­ municate in real love. There has to be times when the individuals are more relaxed. Without any show of emotion, we are able to move ahead, trying to achieve that which will be honoring to the Lord. After confessing them, forget about those past mistakes and sins. Put these things behind you because they are already under the blood. Try to discipline yourself to see any strengths or any positives in the marriage union rather than con­ stantly finding fault. Ask God to fill you with His divine love. Notice verse seven, the prob­ lem that will confront us so often — "that your prayers be not hin­ dered." In a home, even in a Christian home where husband and wife have not been getting along, the immediate thing that happens is that our prayers are hin­ dered. In the original that word "hindered" means "cut off." What a picture: "See to it that your pray­ ers are not cut off." Do you some­ times feel that your praying is not going any higher than the pro­ verbial ceiling? It most certainly could be because of sin. Is there something unconfessed in your Page 44

life, something that may need to be brought before the Lord? Do not wait; let your intercession be right now. What is your commun­ ication with God really like? That is the whole crux of the matter, is it not? When our fellowship with the Lord is out of tune and dis­ torted, nothing will seem right. Proper communion on the other hand, makes an entirely different motive for living, seeking to honor the Lord, even though the outward situation may be most oppressive.
