How Rhode Island Couples Are Investing In Their Weddings
A closer look at priorities, experiences, and the industry behind them
I n 2025, couples across Rhode Island invested an average of $38,526 per wedding, contributing to nearly $246 million in total wedding-related sales, according to data from The Wedding Report. That level of spending reflects more than individual celebrations—it highlights a network of venues, creatives, and service professionals shaping weddings across the Ocean State. Where It Begins: Planning and Coordination From the earliest stages of the process, planning and coordination play a central role in how weddings take shape. For many couples, planners or coordinators are involved from the outset—helping define the overall direction, establish timelines, and guide key decisions as the event begins to take form.
Across the state, planning services are used in approx- imately 19% of weddings, representing about $4.8 million in total spending, while coordination services are incorporated in roughly 20% of events, accounting for an additional $2.29 million. Most planning professionals offer a range of packages to meet different needs. These often include full-service planning, which supports the entire process from concept to execution; partial planning, where planners step in to refine and organize existing plans; and day-of or month-of coordination, focused on managing logistics and ensuring the event runs smoothly. This flexibility allows couples to approach planning in a way that aligns with their timeline, level of involvement, and overall vision.
