SoundPress: Specializing in deep tech, deep house, and techno, what musical influences shape Laminin Music's unique sound? Are there specific artists or genres that inspire your collective's style? Laminin: Each of us brings diverse influences — Hip Hop, RnB, Drum n Bass, Lounge, among others — melding into our productions. We interpret these varied influences collectively, blending Deep Tech, Deep House, Minimal, Techno, Dub, and Electronica into our auditory narratives. SoundPress: Described as "illustrations of audio stories," how do you approach storytelling through your music? What emotions or themes do you aim to convey? Laminin: Crafting audio stories is intrinsic to us. Studio sessions draw from our daily experiences, emotions, and desired messages. We aim to forge a deeper connection with our audience, taking them on an emotional journey and offering an escape through our music. SoundPress: Laminin Music incorporates live elements into DJ performances. Could you explain how you set up these live components? When did the collective seamlessly incorporate these elements into your performances? Laminin: Employing Ableton Live and MIDI, we enrich our DJ sets by designing layers specific to each track. Using synthesizers and Pioneer mixers, we manipulate sounds during performances, establishing a hybrid live set. This method, experimented with in 2017 and embraced fully from 2018, became integral to our gigs.
SoundPress: Can you share how Laminin Music came together? What inspired its formation, and how did your shared love for electronic music bring you together in 2015? Laminin: Laminin Music originated from a group of friends who shared a profound passion for electronic music. Frequenting club and festival scenes, we envisioned creating our musical experiences. The idea coalesced during successful studio sessions in 2015, leading to the birth of our collective. Named after the Laminin molecule — found in all humans, symbolizing unity — we aimed to unite diverse audiences on dance floors through our music. Celebrating eight years, our brotherhood forms the core of our collective.
