MEDICARE UPDATES AND A WELCOME Medicare Annual Enrollment Period Is Here!

As we approach another Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, here at LTI, we are getting our annual Medicare certifications completed, planning marketing activities, and gearing up for the seven-week period of time in which we complete about 70% of our annual business. Every business and industry has its seasonal cycles. My accountant friend and I compare notes on our busy seasons. We find the fourth quarter to be the busiest time of the year. It’s all good! We are grateful for this industry that treats us well and for each of you, our clients. Our goal is to treat you well also! I’d like to let you know about a Medicare regulatory change that affects the way we make and answer telephone calls. Beginning Oct. 1, when you call our office or when we call you, Medicare requires the following to be stated on all calls: “We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options. This call is being recorded.” While the Medicare disclaimer is true, in our efforts to serve Medicare beneficiaries, here at LTI we do contract with many, if not most of the Medicare plans available in our home area of Ventura County. We are also licensed and work in 18 other states.

I’d like to introduce the newest member of our team, Mr. Rod Owen. After many years in the information technology and telecommunications business, Rod Owen has joined the LTI team. He’s now licensed and is rapidly learning the Medicare business. Welcome, Rod! Many of you have talked with or have met our other very capable and professional team members, Beth Finsaas and Susan Crook. It really is our joy to assist you with your Medicare needs. For our members of Medicare Advantage Plans and Prescription Drug Programs: Your Annual Notice of Change should have arrived by now. Please review this document for 2023 changes and contact us if you have any questions about your plan. The Annual Enrollment Period is Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. This is the time for MAPD and PDP members to change plans — if so desired. If you are happy with your plan, take no action and your plan will continue next year. In these uncertain days, we’re glad to be here for you.

KICK BACK AND RELAX

With These Home Spa Treatments

It’s nice to treat yourself to a good spa day, but it can be costly. So instead, create the same treatments from the much-less-expensive comfort of your own home. Light some candles, grab your robe, and kick back with these home spa activities. Your Spa Space The best way to get the most out of your spa day is to set up your space to create a relaxing environment. Declutter the area you plan to relax in, grab your supplies so they’re on standby, light a few candles, and add some mood music, that way it feels like a true spa room. At-Home Treatments Now that your spa room is set, it’s time to indulge in different treatments! • Oatmeal and Honey Facial Mask: These simple ingredients make for a wonderful face mask that leaves your skin super smooth and soft. In a small saucepan over medium heat, mix 1/4 cup of water, 1/2 cup of uncooked oatmeal, 1/2 cup of milk, and 1 tbsp of pure honey, and cook for 5–6 minutes. Stir frequently, and when the time is up, remove from heat and allow to cool. Massage a semi-thick layer of pure honey over your clean face and neck before applying the mask. Apply the mask with upward strokes, lie back, and relax for 15–20 minutes. You can remove the mask with warm water and a soft facial cloth!

Honey and Lemon Foot Soak: This moisturizing and antibacterial foot soak is the perfect remedy for a day on your feet.

All you need for this treatment is 1/2 cup of honey, 1–2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, and 1 lemon sliced into thin rounds. You can either fill a large container or your bathtub with warm water, pour in the honey and apple cider vinegar, and mix! Then, top the water with the lemon slices — and soak your feet for 15–20 minutes. Products for At-Home Spa Days With these products, you can turn your home into a luxurious spa-like sanctuary. Consider the following: • Bath neck pillow • Gel eye masks • Bath salts • Oil diffusers A full spa day is a great way to treat yourself, and we all deserve to sit back and relax every once in a while.

HOW WE HELP YOU WITH THE ANNUAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD

The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is characterized by a storm of advertising, TV and radio, and print. Here is how Lyndon Thomas Insurance assists our clients and prospects throughout the year, with a focus on the upcoming Medicare Annual Enrollment Period. Prescription Drug Review Medicare Advantage Plans and Prescription Drug Programs change from year to year. Premiums may go up (or down!), copays may change, or a drug you are taking may change tiers. Birthday presents are nice surprises, but finding out in January that your premium or copays went up is not the way to begin the new year. LTI will mail clients a Prescription Drug Review Worksheet in late September. If you would like us to review your prescriptions, simply complete the worksheet and return it to our office via mail or email. Sales Events Meetings In this issue of Lyn’s Ledger, we will list our Annual Enrollment Period sales meetings if you would like an in-depth review of your 2023 plan benefits. Each sales meeting will be plan-specific in compliance with Medicare guidelines. In this way, you may attend meetings based

on the plan about which you would like information. Please invite a friend to come along!

Individual Benefits Consultation You may always schedule an individual appointment with Lyndon Thomas Insurance for a benefits review of your MAPD, SA-PDP, or Medicare Supplement. You may call our office at 805-646-6409, text to 805-798-3245, or email us for an appointment.

Our goal is to make your entry to Medicare and any changes during the Annual Enrollment Period as informed and as smooth as possible. Let’s get the Medicare piece solved so you can move on to what you’d rather be doing, like getting ready for the holidays or hanging out with the grandkids!
