OUR VERY OWN MRS SOUTH AFRICA: MAKING A DIFFERENCE

The 33-year-old mother of one is an LLB graduate from UJ with a passion for social development and the law. “I did my primary and high school in and around Johannesburg and I did my undergraduate degree at UJ, studying law. I completed it in 2012. After I completed my articles and was admitted (as an attorney), I came back to UJ a few years later to do my Postgraduate Diploma in Labour Law,” she said. Mrs Gaelae said UJ was a home base for her as it became a foundation for her to focus on her passion for assisting many South Africans with legal matters. She said during the latter part of her schooling, she became fascinated by law, particularly Criminal Law. She provides legal tips and analysis of South African law on her YouTube channel, My Lawyer’s Corner, where she educates South Africans about their rights and how to exercise them. “For me, it is important for people to not only know their rights but to hold those in leadership positions accountable.” On how the idea of joining a pageant came to mind, Gaelae said she dabbled with the idea of joining Miss South Africa but was snubbed. This led her to researching more about Mrs South Africa and entering the pageant. “Mrs South Africa is more than a pageant. It is rather a launching pad, a platform to launch yourself and your aspirations, networking profile and passions. A lot of charity work that is done through Mrs South Africa piqued my interest. I was in search of a place to rediscover and reignite myself. Entering was the best decision for me,” said Gaelae. TENACITY, HARD WORK, DILIGENCE AND COMPASSION ARE SOME OF THE THINGS TSHEGOFATSO GAELAE EMBODIES. WHEN SHE SPENT HER EARLY YEARS IN ROCKVILLE, SOWETO, SHE DIDN’T THINK SHE WOULD ONE DAY ENTER HER REIGN TO BECOME MRS SOUTH AFRICA.
