The Second Exodus - 26 Week

Whatever the L ord pleases, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps.

— Psalm 135:6

Ah, L ord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. —Jeremiah 32:17

All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?” — Daniel 4:35

FOUNDATIONAL TRUTH

SOVEREIGNTY God has absolute control over everything. While we are accountable to God, as well as others (a spouse, employer, civil and federal authorities), He is accountable to no one. Knowing that God is master of the universe and is working out everything in conformity to His divine will (Eph. 1:11) for our good and His glory (Rom. 8:28–29), should give comfort and hope to us, especially when we endure trials.

2. Read Genesis 22:1–14. This account foreshadows the substitutionary sac- rifice of Jesus. How are God’s sovereignty and provision displayed in this important account?
