The Second Exodus - 26 Week

LESSON 13

FOUNDATIONAL TRUTH

KINGDOM OF THE WORLD VS. KINGDOM OF GOD The kingdom of the world is a fallen world that is greatly influenced by Satan, sin, and evil. John 10:10 says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and de- stroy.” Although this may sound worrisome, all dark powers in our world are temporary and on a short leash. Nothing in this universe happens outside of our omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (pres- ent everywhere), and good God. This rule of an eternal, sovereign God over all the universe is the kingdom of God. Daniel 4:3 says, “His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to genera- tion.” No matter what evil might seemingly be happening in the world, the Lord’s purposes will prevail (Prov. 19:21), and no plan of His can be thwarted (Job 42:2). 43 “The book of Esther takes us into the heart of a kingdom. Even though King Ahasuerus doesn’t know it, his is just one of many kingdoms the Bible describes as rising and falling by the hand of the Lord for His redemptive purposes.” 44

6. Regardless of man’s choices, moral ambiguity, and compromises, God will work out all things according to His plans. How does knowing that God is perfectly committed to His promises help you today?
