5. Proverbs 12:23 says, “A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims folly.” In what ways do foolishness and pride rob you of being satisfied with the good things God has given to you?
DAY 4
Mordecai Honored by the King (Esther 6:1–9)
1. The night that King Ahasuerus could not sleep was a pivotal point in the story. In verses 1 and 2, what did he “just happen” to learn from his book of memorable deeds? (See also Est. 2:21–23.)
2. Read Esther 6:1–6 and list the amazing “coincidences”—otherwise known as the outworking of God’s providence.
3. What repeated phrase in Haman’s recommendations exposed his ambitions? (See vv. 6–9.)
4. Haman exemplifies the folly of pride. What do you learn from Proverbs 3:34 and 11:2 about the danger of pride?
