LESSON 22
What is revival?
God’s quickening visitation of his people, touching their hearts and deep- ening his work of grace in their lives. —J. I. Packer
A true revival means nothing less than a revolution, casting out the spirit of worldliness and selfishness, making God and His love triumph in the heart and life. —Andrew Murray
4. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, the Lord says, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” How do these words and the example of Israel in this chapter inspire or convict you to pray and seek God’s face on behalf of the church and our broken nation?
DAY 5
Israel Signs an Agreement to Reject Their Past Sinful Ways and Follow God and His Covenant Stipulations, Continued (Nehemiah 10:28–39)
Note : The rest of the people in 10:28 did not sign the document, but they did give their oral consent.
1. In verse 29, how is a covenant both a “curse and an oath”?
2. Those who administered the curses and oaths emphasized specific areas needing serious reformation. Write down the verbs after the repeated pro- noun “we” and some of the areas needing to be reformed (vv. 30–39).
