The Second Exodus - 26 Week

For the L ord has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place. — Psalm 132:13

And many nations shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the L ord , to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the L ord from Jerusalem. — Micah 4:2 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering. —Hebrews 12:22

2. Based on the verses above and other passages, why do you think a healthy Jerusalem was vital to the identity and spiritual health of the nation of Israel?

3. Read Nehemiah 11:3–24. This list reveals general categories of people moving into Jerusalem like chiefs, priests, sons, and overseers. Think of all the hun- dreds of homes they will build. What other details do you notice?

Note : Nehemiah 11:25–36 records a second list of the names of the villages in Judah and Benjamin, where people originally settled. From those cities, 10% of the people would move to resettle Jerusalem.
