The Second Exodus - 26 Week

LESSON 25

• What did I learn about mankind, good or bad?

• What verse or teaching stood out to me?

• What questions do I have?

DAY 2

1. Give a recent example of how you may have used a question to veil a complaint.

The Lord’s Love and Israel’s Blemished Offerings (Malachi 1:1–14)

Note : “Yet I have loved Jacob but Esau I have hated” (Mal. 1:2–3). God did not hate Esau in the sense of cursing him or striking out against him. Indeed, Esau was a blessed man (Gen. 33:9 and 36:1–43). Yet, when God chose Jacob, He left Esau un- chosen regarding receiving the blessing given to Abraham. 68 While the Israelites were the descendants of Jacob, the Edomites were the descendants of Esau. 2. Read Malachi 1:1–5. The Lord declares His covenant love for Israel. Then Israel questions, “How have you loved us?” (v. 2), meaning, “In what way have you chosen us?” What evidence does God give for His love in verses 2–5?
