The Second Exodus - 26 Week

LESSON 26

2. Pick one of the themes or doctrines and write a prayer to God.

DAY 4

The Gospel

When you turn the pages of the Bible from our study in the Old Testament to the New Testament, Jesus arrives. The promised Messiah is here! The glory of God and the Light of the World shine brightly, yet He is not recognized for who He is as the Savior. 1. Read Zechariah 9:9–11 and Matthew 21:7–11. Even though King Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a donkey, fulfilling Zechariah’s prophesy, Israel didn’t rec- ognize their Messiah. They were anticipating the fulfillment of the Davidic covenant through the rise of a powerful political king, who would usher in the promised, glorious, eternal, kingdom of David. Similarly, today many still do not recognize Jesus as the promised Messiah and Savior of the world.

How did you come to recognize Jesus as the Messiah and as your Savior and King? (Consider the verses below.)

Ephesians 1:3–6 Blessed be the God and Father of our L ord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will.
