The Second Exodus - 26 Week

Ephesians 1:13–14 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire posses- sion of it, to the praise of his glory.

2. Just as Israel looked forward to the coming of the Messiah, we look back- ward at His first coming (as seen in the four gospels) and forward to His second coming. With the first coming of Jesus Christ, God dealt decisively with the short comings of the Mosaic covenant (the law of Moses). According to the fol- lowing verses, how did Jesus teach with respect to the law of Moses?

Matthew 5:17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Luke 22:20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.”

Hebrews 8:13 In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

3. What do the following verses say about unbelief in Jesus as the Son of God and Savior of the world?

John 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not be- lieve is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
