The Second Exodus - 26 Week

LESSON 5 5. In the past, the tabernacle or temple was the place where God dwelt, and His people came to worship Him. What does the temple point to in the New Testament? List everything you learn about the temple, or God’s house, from these verses. 1 Corinthians 3:10–11 According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:16–17 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

Ephesians 2:19–22 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the L ord . In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

Hebrews 3:5–6 Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our con- fidence and our boasting in our hope.
