1 Peter 2:4–6 As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sac- rifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in Scripture:
“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”

Haggai Calls the Jewish Remnant to Consider Their Ways (Haggai 1:5–11)
1. Read the passage.
• They were to “consider their ways” (v. 5 and 7). What was happening?
• What were the consequences for the Jews’ neglect of God’s house while attending to their own houses?
2. Read Deuteronomy 11:13–17. How were these words being fulfilled among the Jews who had returned, and what do these verses suggest about the condition of their hearts?
