LESSON 6
Zechariah 3:4 and Revelation 1:5–6
Take off his filthy clothes; see I have taken away your sin.
Jesus “loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood.”
Zechariah 3:4–5 and 2 Corinthians 5:21
And I will put fine garments on you . . . and “put a clean turban on his head.”
In him we become righteous.
4. Joshua was “a brand plucked from the fire” (Zech. 3:2). If you are a follow- er of Christ, the same could be said of you. How do the following passages regarding the new covenant bring more clarity to your understanding of this verse?
Galatians 1:4 [Jesus Christ] gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.
Colossians 1:13–14 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemp- tion, the forgiveness of sins.
2 Timothy 4:18 The L ord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
5. Read Zechariah 3:6–10. What does the Angel of the Lord say to solemnly assure Joshua? Whom do you think is the Branch? (See also Isa. 11:1–10; Jer. 23:5–6.)
