WHAT MAKES HAWAII’S WEDDING INDUSTRY SO SPECIAL? This seems like an easy question! Hawaii is truly one of the most gorgeous locations for a wedding. The weather is near perfect year round, the people who live here are kind and welcoming, and we're part of the United States, which makes it so easy for people to travel here. In addition, we're in the middle of the Pacific, so it's a great meeting point for destination couples who have family in Asia or elsewhere in the Pacific. The vendors who work in Hawaii also have such an amazing aloha spirit, not just to their guests and clients, but to each other. When I'm working at weddings, it really feels like I'm working with close friends and family, which the client will feel and that makes their day even more special. WHAT’S YOUR #1 ADVICE TO PEOPLE ON THEIR WEDDING DAY? Trust your vendors and enjoy your day! You've spent months, or even years, planning this day, so do everything you can to enjoy it.

WHO IS YOUR DREAM INTERVIEWEE? Joseph is dying to interview celebrities who just recently got married, and big name wedding planners like Colin Cowie and Preston Bailey. I'm really excited to do an episode about past couples and their tips for future brides. I think hearing advice from us as professionals is great, but validation from past brides always makes a strong impact. HOW OFTEN ARE YOU RELEASING NEW CONTENT? We publish an episode weekly, every Wednesday morning at 5 am.
Unveiling paradise, the podcast by Tessa Gomes, wedding planner and coordinator at Fred and Kate Events and Joseph Esser of Esser Photography + Video, offers two professional points of view about wedding planning and is bursting with personality. The two formed a bond over their industry expertise, but even more so as they came together to push for the reopening of the industry in the wake of the pandemic. “While sitting in a lot of heavy meetings [for Oahu Wedding Association], we realized that we often didn't agree on a lot of things, but we really enjoyed our conversations and debates with each other,” said Tessa.
We talked to Tessa about the podcast, why Hawaii weddings are so sought-after and more.
