Primary Campus

VISUAL ARTS Students focus on developing various techniques through the Visual Arts elements of line, colour, shape, texture, value and space. They observe techniques used by artists from a range of social and historical contexts and plan and create their own visual art works. Students participate in the areas of drawing, collage, painting, textiles and construction. They use ideas and concepts taken from themes and visual stimuli from a range of cultures and social contexts to explore, create and express their ideas.

DIGITAL DESIGN

In Digital Design, students develop their skills in problem solving, creativity, teamwork, independent thinking and are introduced to careers that utilise these skills. They develop and apply an understanding of how diagrams communicate design ideas and undertake projects that use the engineering design process. Students respond to problems with different materials and objectives each week. In Term 2, students design their own animal applying their understanding of animal classification and adaptations to create a profile for their creature. Using digital technologies, students create and adapt design ideas, make considerable decisions and communicate to their peers. STEM In STEM students will be learning that living things can be grouped on the basis of observable features and can be distinguished from non - living things. They will explore the differences between living, once living and products on living things. Students will learn to identify variations in the features or living things such as plants/flowers and animals and learn to characterise these organisms. Students will then learn how a change of state between solid and liquid can be caused by adding or removing heat. They will investigate how liquids and solids respond to changes in temperature and explore how changes from solid to liquid and liquid to solid can help us recycle materials.
