I a m writing you in appreciation of the work of Brothers Sloan and Lines while with us in Fellows. We look forward with pleasure to the time of Brother Sloan’s arrival. He has labored earnestly for the past years and this year it seems as if his work was to bear fruit. We thank you for sending such men to the oilfields, and hope and pray that your work may have abun dant success.— W. J. Holland, Fellows, Cal. (Westminster Pres. Church). R ev . W m . S l o a n and his, splendid singer, Mr. J. J. Lines, have been with us at Mc- Kittrick oilfields for nearly two weeks, in revival work. If Brother Sloan had any pet themes, any newfangle notions, or any fine-spun theories concerning the plan of Salvation, he kept them to himself. Hjs sermons were earnest, clear, clean-cut, gos pel pure and simple. On account of the rain the congregations were small and part t h e C o u n t y H o s p it a l , where we have visited at least twice each week, we have rejoiced in the conversion of many to the Lord. Such words as the following have been listened to frequently: “ My brother, before God who sees us, and the Savior, who saves me, and of His Holy Spirit who accompanies us, I surrender myself completely to Him.” Others who formerly opposed the Gospel, but who through their sufferings have been brought to accept Him as their Savior, have said: “ I am fully ready. I am going to heaven. My Lord has said that I shall be with Him,” and they have asked that we should not even pray that their life might be pro longed, but that they might go soon. One man said, “I am going to my Savior; tell Brother Salcido that we will see each other over there where we will sing together,” and he asked others there to accept Christ as their Saviour that they, too, might be taken there where they would all be to gether. of the time no services were held.— J. H. Amis, McKittrick, Cal. (Pastor M. E. Church). R ev . W m . S l o a n , and singer, Prof. J. J. Lines, spent two weeks with us in De cember in an evangelistic meeting, and did splendid work. Both are Bible students and believe that the Spirit and His Word faithfully presented are sufficient to save all who believe. The course of Bible read ings given at the day services were very helpful. As a result of their work there were several confessions and since the meet ing, the pastor has received into member ship twelve substantial members. The peo ple of Fellows will gladly welcome those evangelists at any time. Contrary to the manner of some evangelists, they know how to promote the greatest harmony between the pastor and people and are religiously courteous at all times.— James B. Rose, Fel lows, Cal. These precious testimonies from these dying lips can but bring joy to those who hear them. During the last week two dear souls who had accepted the Lord Jesus as their Savior went to be with their Lord. T h e f o l l o w in g has come to our notice as to the fruits of the preaching each even ing on the street: One day five Mexicans accosted Mr. Salcido on the street and said, first one, then another, “ I am Ale jandro Logo,” and “I am Benito Martinez,” and “ I am Jose Chacon,” and “ I am Jesus Chavaria,” and the last, “I am Carlos Diaz.” On different nights they said that they had heard us preach the Gospel on the street. This was almost a year before. They said that while they had listened to what had been said and had also noted how the ones in the meetings had deported themselves, yet they had gone on their ways and had not thought much more about the subject
