THE KING ’S BUSINESS

She declares that Philippians 3, .12-14 is especially for her. She has made a full surrender of her will to the' will of God and shows a triumphant, victorious, God- given life. S h e w a s t w e n t y - e ig h t years of age, a keen, attractive circus rider by profession, but withal a simple, hungry-hearted girl. Never had been in Sunday School, and had attended a church service twice. _She heard the lesson on “ Eternal Life” as presented by the Bible woman and the Word was sealed by the Holy Spirit. She bought a Bible and began with Genesis and labor iously,. but not understandingly, read through to Deuteronomy. Two or three interviews followed and the plan of salva tion was carefully studied and with great joy the “ little circus lady” accepted the Lord Jesus. Ten months later we find her a quiet, refined young woman, occupying a good position as stenographer for a large beet sugar factory, and witnessing for the Lord Jesus. T h e r e w a s il l n e s s in the home of the Bible woman and a trained nurse was call ed. Each extremity must be an opportun ity, and this opportunity came when the nurse, . knowing she was in a Christian home, spoke of her ignorance of the Word and her ovfri heart longings. She was nof worthy to be saved and wanted to work and give, then perhaps she could be saved. These with many other objections were met by the Word of God. Finally, on a quiet Sabbath morning, a dispensational lesson was given. The audience was com posed of two—no, three—for “ one like unto the Son of Man was in the midst,” honoring His own Word, and the nurse found peace. Her first thought and desire was to go to her brother and sisters, who were Spiritual ists, to show them the Way. Thus was extremity turned to the glory of God. O n e d a y , while visiting a young girl who was sick in bed, the Bible woman was stirred by the bitter crying of a girl in another part of the^ building. Following the sound, she entered the room, with no right to do so but the right of going in His name to bring th e' comfort of His Word to one in sorrow. After a short ministry the pitiful story was told by the girl, the Gospel message given by the vis-' itor and the penitent prayer made,-—“ God be merciful to me, a sinner.” A few days later the same girl was found caring for the baby in her charge, happy and' deter mined to trust the Lord to settle the sad troubles of her motherless life. A y o u n g g ir l , brought back to her al legiance to God, confessed the cause of her back-sliding to be her engagement to a young man who was not a Christian. She was directed to 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, and after a phort time of prayerful considera tion surrendered _her will wholly to God to be led anywhere, any time, in His serv ice, .saying that she saw the life of un happiness which would surely follow her union with an unbeliever, but in her sim ple petition to the Lord she asked that the soul of the young man might be saved. The day after this she wrote the man frankly, giving her reasons and giving him the Scripture verses as her reason for separa tion. She needs our prayers that she may remain true to her convictions. H a v in g stopped to talk with a young wo man in a laundry booth window and finding her responsive, I visited her again, when she told me the sad story of her life of sin after a professed conversion at seven teen years of age. With tearS", she acknowl edged her guilt, was assured that God alone could and would forgive her. In her room with me she willingly knelt in prayer, ask ing forgiveness and cleansing by the blood of.Christ, Her conversion is genuine and thorough. She is now reading her Bible and studying with me and attending church services where she is strengthened in faith.
