finding no satisfaction in them had finally discarded all religion, declaring she was happy without any. She 1 was very cour­ teous and invited me to call again. This brought about a second visit, when she de­ clared religion was a farce. Her first hus­ band was a great church worker, but be­ cause of his cruelty and constant abuse of her, she was forced to divorce him. Her second husband professed nothing, but was kind,-loving and considerate. Thus the trouble was located. A third call was made upon a rainy day, which so surprised the, woman she said, “You must be in love do that makes you admire him? Show how serious a matter it is to have a hero to follow, and how careful we should be to .choose 'only the good example. Every boy and girl hjs some older one that he or she admires. What did Paul say about imi­ tating him?. (1 Cor. 11:1). What about imitating Christ?, (Eph. 5:1, R. V .). The Heart of the Lesson. The Mas­ ter has never asked one of His disciples to do that which He has not Himself done. Does He speak of self-denial? He prac­ ticed it. Is it a question of leaving home and friends? He left heaven. If it is a cross—He was nailed to one. The Cross, the crucifixion, the forsaking of all—these are the credentials of the Christian. Who truly follows Him must bid farewell to all else. This point is the Cross-roads, where so many go astray. The Christian must be crucified by the world or crucified to it. W e are ex­ pecting that the Institute will be used in a larger and larger measure to meet these calls, and to that end we are desirous of having an increased number o f stu­ dents in the School.
