plane and head for a live encounter with the likes of Max, Charles, Lewis and Lando. The season culminates in Abu Dhabi on 7 th December. The FIA has decided to hold six sprint races in 2025, with these events to be host- ed in Brazil, Miami, Austin, Qatar, China and Belgium. One change is that a bonus point will no longer be awarded for the fastest lap. Drivers will also be required to wear outfits equipped with cool- ing systems if temperatures exceed 30.5°C. In an effort to avoid drivers passing out due to extreme heat, the FIA will highlight races that pose a heat risk and accordingly raise the vehicle weight limit for those rac- es from 800 to 805 kilograms – as the entire cooling system weighs five kilograms. The most important part of the system is a fireproof shirt that includes around 48 metres of tubes that are arranged to wrap around the driver’s chest and back. If you are in a position to do so, we suggest you book a flight from Belgrade to London for the launch event. That’s because, for the first time in Formula 1’s 75-year histo- ry, all teams have agreed to pres- ent their cars for the new season
together, in one place. The UK capi- tal was selected as the host city, and the date is 18 th February. There’s still time for now, but don’t regret it later if you read this text too late. Finally, it would be unsports- manlike of us to fail to mention that the title is being defended by Max Verstappen, Formula 1 cham- pion for the last four seasons. This Dutch driver fought off the assault of Lando Norris in 2024, but this year he’ll be driving as a dad for the first time. Max’s partner Kel- ly, daughter of Brazilian three-time world champion Nelson Piquet, is due to give birth in March, precise- ly around the time of the Australi- an Grand Prix. Among current F1 drivers, Nico Hulkenberg is the on- ly one to have become a father: his daughter, Noemi Sky, was born in 2021. He is also the only of the 20 drivers to be married. As in 2024, the U.S. will host the most races. With America becoming an increasingly popular market for F1, we will see races in Miami, Aus- tin and Las Vegas. The Grand Prix in the Mojave Desert is also the only race on the calendar to be held on a Saturday.
