ered the first section of the gate, they found that it duplicated the Megiddo gate “down to the inch.” General Yadin then took a scaled drawing of the elaborate Megiddo gate and drew its outline in the dirt of Hazor. When his diggers sank their spades along this outline, they uncovered the rest of the Hazor gate. “These two structures were so alike that they must have been built by the same man, King Solo mon, during the same period,” General Yadin said. The arguments over the history of Hazor are raised by the passages in Judges 4 and 5. In Judges 4 the Israelites are said to have been sold into the hand of Jabin, King of Canaan, “that reigned in Hazor.” In the next chapter, which is the Song of Deborah, the battle against Jabin’s forces, commanded by Sisera, takes place near Megiddo, miles from Hazor. No mention of Hazor is made in this passage. In his work at Hazor, General Yadin stated that the Solomonic city was built directly over the Canaanite city which Joshua destroyed (Josh. 1:10-11) in the 13th century B. C. “This indicates that there was a gap of 300 years in Hazor’s exist ence and that it was not there as an active city in Deborah’s time,” he said. Christian Education P erhaps the biggest push ever un- dertaken in the field of Christian teaching aids gets under way this month by International Child Evange lism Fellowship of Pacific Palisades, Calif. Alerted by the smashing success of value coupons currently used in sec ular merchandising, ICEF officials have scheduled an advertising program in national Christian magazines to print over 4 million coupons with a face value of 10 and 25 cents each when redeemed. Director Franklin Ellis hopes this stepped-up drive will spark the entire nation into a new drive to claim the young for Christ. The literature and aids being pushed in this campaign have been designed for every religious teaching situation. The coupons will be in the following national maga zines: Child Evangelism, Christian Herald, Christian Life, Eternity, The King's Business and Moody Monthly.
