ACCOMMODATION The Dicker campus offers accommodation for boys and girls across five modern boarding houses, each boasting comfortable social spaces for students to relax in. Most bedrooms have 2-4 beds with shared bathrooms, with the newest house offering single and double en-suite bedrooms. FACILITIES AT DICKER
Dicker, home of Bede’s Senior School, is based in a small village in the middle of the South Downs, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Designed to reflect the feeling of life in a rural community, the spacious campus offers accommodation for up to 70 students and has five boarding houses that inspire a sense of community and belonging – ideal for both more reserved and confident students. This immersive three -week programme will see students experience lessons, sports & activities, social events and excursions that are closely aligned with Bede’s students needs and interests. Bede’s put the student experience and safety before all else and therefore the unrivalled sporting and excursion programme will ensure each and every student can get the most out of their time at the camp. Bede’s highly trained, residential staff are always on hand to ensure that students from all corners of the world are made to feel welcomed into the Bede’s School community.
Students on the Bede’s Horse Riding Academy will have a riding lesson and rides in the local countryside, under close supervision. The instructors are experienced in teaching young teenagers for whom this may be their first time on a horse as well as catering for more advanced riders. Students also have the opportunity to learn about caring for horses, grooming and stable management after their rides. TENNIS Bede’s Tennis Academy offers students the opportunity to improve their tennis skills and technique. Sessions will specifically look at offensive and defensive actions as well as how to position on court and improve their tennis ability.

Bede’s Easter Programme is a carefully-crafted two- week course with 22.5 hours of English lessons per week, including English Skills, Enrichment and Research Project. Lessons are designed to improve students’ general language competencies, including grammar and vocabulary, with a focus on communication, fluency and building confidence in the speaker. LEVELS & CLASSES Easter Plus A0 Complete Beginner A1 Beginner A1–A2 Elementary A2 Pre-Intermediate • B1 Intermediate • B2 Upper Intermediate • C1 Advanced • C2 Proficiency • ENGLISH SKILLS These lessons are designed to improve students’ general language skills, extend their vocabulary and better their understanding of grammar, to improve accuracy and confidence when producing spoken and written English. ENRICHMENT During these sessions, students will further enrich their language skills by deepening their cultural understanding of the places they visit during excursions, using real-world materials such as leaflets, word searches, adverts and articles to develop their productive and receptive English skills pre and post excursions. RESEARCH PROJECT Throughout the course of the week, students do research around a weekly theme or topic of interest which they then present in an agreed way, such as a presentation, performance, song, product pitch or an art exhibition of their work. The aim of Research Project lessons is to develop students team and collaboration skills as well as improve their speaking and interpersonal skills. There is a fun, competitive element to Research Projects and every student in the winning class, judged by the Academic Manager or Centre Director, is recognised for their contribution and given a small prize.
SPORTS & ACTIVITIES (AFTERNOONS) After lessons, students participate in a variety of sports and recreational activities. At Bede’s, we believe that students learn just as much outside of the classroom as they do inside of it. Our on-site activity programme is key to this. Students will enjoy a wide ranging and engaging set of activities that make the most of the high-quality facilities that the Bede’s Summer School sites have at their disposal. Bede’s Summer School understands that all students have different interests and our programmes are designed to have something for everyone that works to the social and cultural benefit of our students combining sports, arts & crafts and challenging competitions – students will be able to choose their preferred sport or activity. Examples are: Football, Tennis, Badminton, Swimming, Cooking, Jewellery Making, Yoga, Arts & Craft, Aerobics, Rounders, Card Games. SOCIAL EVENTS (EVENINGS) Social Events are always the perfect time for students to mix and enjoy themselves with their new international friends. At Easter, they may include: Disco, Karaoke, Mini Olympics, Bede’s Got Talent, Games Night, Movie Night and Easter Egg Hunt. EXCURSIONS Excursions are an integral part of the Bede’s Easter Programme. We offer students a complimentary mix of cultural visits, shopping and amusements, to ensure that each and every student gets the most out of their experience at Bede’s. Excursions are full-day trips which take place on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday excursions will see the students going to London to see the major sights and attractions of the capital. Sunday excursions will allow the students to visit another place of interest in the South of England, such as the city of Brighton where they will be able to enjoy a seafront stroll and some supervised shopping time in Brighton Lanes.
