Johnny Friedlaender 1912–1992, Germany/France

Born in Germany in 1912, Johnny Friedlaender attended the Academy of Arts in Breslau. He was interned in concentration camps from 1939–1943, settled in Paris in 1945, and became a French citizen in 1950. Friedlaender was a highly regarded teacher and a prolific printmaker, producing a number of full sheet color aquatint etchings, all published in editions of 95, like this one. This print is signed by the artist in pencil within the image, on the lower right corner. This , color aquatint etching with embossment, Ed 59/95, 30½˝H x 22¼˝W (sheet size) Newly framed using archival materials, including museum glass.
