Making a lasting contribution

Mrs Judy Layne-Banks When Judy Layne graduated from the Cave Hill Campus in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature, Linguistics and Education, she could never have imagined that she would one day stand among 22 other public-school teachers and principals in the Jefferson County Public School District of the US state of Kentucky, being honoured for “outstanding teaching”. But that is exactly what happened on September 26, 2022. Now Judy Layne-Banks, having married her husband, American John Banks in 1999, she has been teaching in Kentucky for the past seventeen years. Her recognition as “an exceptional teacher “, and presentation of the Barbara Sexton Smith Award , sponsored by The Fund for The Arts was based on the ways in which she uses ‘The Arts’ in teaching.
