Legal Blunders to Avoid This Opposite Day WHY EXPERT GUIDANCE MATTERS

The worst advice you will ever receive will likely be about a legal case. Bad legal guidance can shut down any opportunity for a just resolution. For those who don’t know, Jan. 25 is Opposite Day, so I’m here to share horrific advice you would never hear me say. Hopefully, you’ll see why this advice should never be followed and why you should always listen to your expert attorney ( not your uncle or coworker ). ‘Post whatever you want on social media.’ I know it’s become part of our daily lives to post updates about ourselves on social media, but when it comes to your case, I will always advise you to post nothing about it online. I’ve seen clients who have dramatically reduced the value of their cases because of comments they made on social media. I can tell you that lawyers from the opposing party routinely check claimants’ social media posts. If you claim you’re in pain after an accident but then post a photo of you having the time of your life at a nice restaurant with your friends and smiling ear to ear, who will believe your claim? Anything that contradicts your injury claim can completely close your case. ‘Broadcast your settlements win.’ Aside from legal matters, one piece of advice I would never suggest is to share with others how much compensation you received from your case. People who post about their settlements online soon have friends and relatives asking them for a loan. Obviously, this can put you in an awkward position and even put you at a higher risk of robbery. Your details aren’t difficult to find, so be discreet and keep any settlement information to yourself and those you trust. ‘Don’t see a doctor after an accident.’ Many people oppose going to the doctor for some reason. But when people choose to suffer at home from their pain

instead of receiving treatment, it’s more challenging to prove their injuries. The jurors will be unable to process why an injured person would not see a doctor. The result? They might conclude you weren’t hurt at all. That is why I would always recommend that if you’re in a car accident, you must receive medical treatment to detect any injuries or issues early on and keep it documented. With this documentation, you can better prove your case. ‘It’s okay to keep information from your lawyer.’ You may think some information is best kept hidden, even from your attorney, but you must tell them everything. Even if you think it might hurt your case, like a prior injury, your lawyer can use this vital information to strengthen your case. Again, I assure you the opposing lawyer will always find any information you’re trying to hide. They will dig through your social media, medical records, police records, etc. If they bring this information to light in court after you tried to hide it, consider your case over. ‘Trust everyone’s unverified legal advice.’ Lastly, please refrain from taking any legal advice from anyone who is not a lawyer. So many people offer inaccurate information that can thoroughly damage your case. I often hear people tell me their uncle thinks they should do this or that, but I have to ensure they understand this is not the right step to take. Your uncle’s advice is usually really bad! Call us if you’re relying on your uncle’s or second cousin twice removed’s legal advice. Our expert team can always offer you the real legal guidance you need.

The Weird Actions of Brilliant Thinkers

Some of history’s greatest thinkers were more than a little eccentric. Let’s look at strange facts about five inventors, scientists, and philosophers who helped shape our world. Inventor Nikola Tesla walked around a building three times before entering it. He apparently became obsessed with the numbers 3, 6, and 9 and would only stay in hotel rooms that had a number divisible by 3.

Famed physicist Albert Einstein created a contract for his first wife that outlined her household duties. The contract established that she must provide fresh meals, clean laundry, and “silence on request.” Unsurprisingly, they divorced after 11 years. Scientist Marie Curie carried test tubes full of radioactive isotopes in her pockets almost everywhere she went. She also kept them in desk drawers and open areas around her lab. This practice is believed to have contributed to her death from aplastic anemia in 1934. The ancient Greek mathematician Pythagoras was afraid of fava beans, which wasn’t an uncommon fear during his time. Myth said that fava beans contained the souls of the dead since they had a flesh-like appearance. Finally, Sir Isaac Newton once inserted a sewing needle into his eye for an experiment to learn about how the eye perceived color and light. Surely, there was a less gruesome way to test his hypothesis!

Nestled in northern Mexico near Durango lies a mysterious tract of land that has baffled some scientists and hobbyists for years: the Zone of Silence. According to urban myth, this enigmatic area is where radio signals and telecommunications mysteriously vanish into thin air. It all started in 1970 when a U.S. White Sands Missile Base missile veered off its predetermined path and crashed into this strange dead zone — 400 miles from its designated target. U.S. Air Force authorities employed local residents to recover the missile, all while keeping the specifics and location of the missile under wraps. When the rocket was eventually discovered in a sand mound, a complex retrieval system was established, which included extending a railroad track to the dune. Though the THE ZONE OF SILENCE : Where Science and Conspiracy Converge

objective was to maintain secrecy, this incident might have sparked even more questions about the area’s secrets. Since that time, theories and conspiracies about the area have grown. They range from odd UFO sightings and alien encounters to unexplained fossils and natural phenomena. Scientists in the area say there is no truth to these rumors, and those with expert knowledge of the area’s local flora and fauna can explain each discrepancy. Despite these rebuttals, though, conspiracy theorists continue to flock to the zone in search of “answers.”
