Bridges to Academic Reading and Writing • Classes are for adults whose native language is not English and who speak at an intermediate level of English. Classes focus on developing reading and writing skills necessary to pursue GED/HSE or college classes. • Bridges classes will be held in in-person, online and hybrid formats. Both formats require the student to have a device with internet access. The College may have Chromebooks available for students to borrow. • Bridges students may not enroll in the Literacy/Reading program. • Students may enroll in more than one Bridges class and an ESL class, if they wish • Bridges/Reading students should fill out the pre-registration form which can be found at oakton.edu/conted. We will contact you regarding registration, testing and your class assignment. Au Pairs: Per ICCB (Illinois Community College Board) regulations, au pairs are required to take post-secondary classes and cannot enroll in Oakton’s free Bridges classes. They may, however, enroll in the College’s low-cost tuition classes. Bridges classes are not intended for tourists, but rather for those who have come to live in the U.S. For more information, please call 847.635.1426 or email adulted@oakton.edu .
