T HE K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S soever He (the F ath e r) doeth, these also doeth the Son likew ise.” And a careful comparison of Rev. 1:8 with v. 13, 17, ch. 2:8, 22:13, need, as it seems to me, leave no doubt upon our mind th a t the Son of man declares of Himself, “ I am the A lm ighty.” Is th e F a th e r H im se lf incomprehen sible while comprehending all th ing s? St. P eter said to our Lord absolutely, w ithout qualification, and w ith re fer ence to th a t prerogative of omniscience, heart-know ledge, “Lord, Thou knowest all things.” And Christ Jesus says of Himself, “No man knoweth the Soil but the F ath er, neither knoweth any man the F ath e r save the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal H im .” “ In this passage both the omniscience and incomprehensibility of Christ are de clared by Himself. He who knows the F ath e r is omniscient; He who is known only by the F ath e r incomprehensible.” Also, He says, “As th e F ath e r knoweth me, even so know I th e F a th e r.” The riches of Christ are declared to be un searchable. His love passeth knowl edge. And, “ In Him are hid all the treasu res of wisdom and knowledge.” Is th e F a th e r Infinitely Good and Holy? So th a t “ th ere is none good bu t one, th a t is God,” and again, “ th ere is none holy, save Jehov ah ?” Jesus says, “ I am th e Good Shepherd,” th e abso lutely good one. Jesus is called, “ th e Holy One and th e Ju st— the one who knew no sin—w ith o u t sin, w ithout spot -—holy, harm less, undefiled — Jesus Christ th e righteous, In whom is no sin -—full of grace and tru th .” Is th e F a th e r th e C reator, P reserver, and Governor of all things in heaven and e a rth ? Jesus is the C reator, for “by him (th e Son of His love) were all things created th a t are in heaven and th a t are in earth, visible and invisible, w hether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him and for him .” And w ithout him (th e Word) was not even

He is over all, God blessed for ever. He is King of kings and Lord of lords. And His dominion is an ever lasting dominion which shall not pass away, and His kingdom th a t which shall not be destroyed. Is th e F a th e r th e Searcher of h ea rts? “These things saith the Son of God all the churches shall know th a t I am He who searcheth th e reins and h e a rts ;” and “He,” w rites St. John, “ knew all men, and needed not th a t any should testify of man. for He knew what was in man.” Is th e F a th e r th e Most High Judge of all? Jesus Christ likewise stands fo rth as the appointed Judge of all men. For it is w ritten, “We must all appear before the judgm ent seat of Christ.” And “when th e Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels w ith him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory, and before him shall be gathered all nations, and he shall separate them one from an o th er.'’ Here then we have all the essential attrib u tes of Godhead ascribed to Christ: and this, not in one or two ob scure passages, but by a general con sensus of those holy men who spake as they were moved by th e Holy Ghost. Many other proof texts of sim ilar char acter, if space had perm itted, m ight have been brought forward. But these suffice.
