Thus it is the privilege of every tru e P ro testan t to raise the S tandard of Bible Witness, first negatively in pro testing against the erro r prevalent to day, and secondly in positive “ contend ing for the F aith once for all delivered unto th e sain ts.” Hence, let it be un derstood, th a t P ro testan tism is nor. solely a protest against th e erro rs and darkness of the Roman Catholic Church, but a grand stroke for the life-giving and liberating doctrines of the Word of God. 1. P rotestantism stands for— PURE 1 teaching in all th at PRIMITIVE L concerns a m an’s eter- POSITIVE j nal welfare. His com plete salvation, Body, Soul and Spirit. His redemption from the Penalty, the Power and the Presence of Sin. 2. We need the same old Gospel, and preachers w ith a P au l ine backbone, and *the courage of a Jerem iah, to declare “ the whole coun sel of God,” in face of the loss of fa vour from the pew, deacon’s frowns, and an invitation to move on. We need men who “ know their God” ; who believe in the revelation of God through Christ, and have the Mes sage burned into th eir own hearts. But this will not come until men are called of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit* and who count not th eir lives dear unto them. Time-servers and pulpit-orators have had th eir day. Today preachers are minimizing the power, pollution and penalty of sin. The law which, obeyed, made Israel the envy of th e nations, is now like an old flint-lock musket, said to be "Out of d ate.” Many say, “We are now under grace, and not under the law of com m andm ent.” They forget th a t “Love is the fulfilling of the law” : th a t Jesus was a law-keeper, and th a t “Love work- eth no ill to his neighbor.” Many teachers are telling us the world is getting better, in face of the plain word of Jesus th a t it would get worse. “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also th e coming of the Son of ■Man be” : and “Because of the prev alent disregard of God’s law, th e love
