As we voyage along through life; I t’s the set of th e soul th a t decides th e goal, And not the storm s or th e strife.”

our conversation, we spoke to him about faith, and before we had a chance to show him the passage, he said, “F aith comes by hearing or reading th e Word of God,” thu s acknowledging th e Bible as th e Word of God. On being asked if he would accept Jesus as his Saviour, he th e re and then confessed Him and said, “P raise th e Lord! He is now my God, my F ath er, my Saviour, my P ro tector and my F riend .” He fu rth er said, “Oh, how I would like to have a Bible and understand its teaching, so I could go to my countrymen and tell them the tru th . Some day I hope to go back to Mexico and teach my peo ple.” He is tru ly a very b righ t con vert. He is here in th e hospital, bu t he has no relatives or friends. Will th e readers of The K ing’s Business not pray for him? We praise God th a t we do no t have to buy the people through charity, education, th e “ social gospel,” etc., God having given us a real vital, living message. Oh! th a t God’s people would wake up and pu t first things first. W ith the opening of the fall term at Bible In stitu te, God has given us a small band of helpers, and we tru st th a t we shall be able to enlarge th e work, reaching th e women and children in the several camps and colonies where no other Christian work is being done. We praise God for the prospect for th e days to come, and covet earnestly your pray ers, for w ith th e enlargem ent of th e work will come added responsibilities. If any so desire, we would be glad to have them meet w ith us in our prayer meeting every Monday from 10 to 11 A. M., Men’s Building, Bible In stitu te. JITH th e opening of th e fall term of school, the Shop De p artm en t again takes up the two-fold problem of reaching men w ith th e Gospel and train ing students in the work. From th e many letters th a t we have received, we feel sure th a t few people realize th e trem endous responsibility which falls upon us in th is g reat work for God. Do you realize th a t we are today reaching all th e im po rtan t ra il road, stree t car and large m anufactur ing shops in the city? We have over eighty-eight places of meeting and num ber in our constituency over 5600 men. SHOP WORK M. H. Reynolds, Snpt.

SPANISH DEPARTMENT Robert H. Bender, Supt. “ The w ord s th at I speak unto you, they are spirit, and th ey are life.” ' “ F o r the W ord o f God is quick and powerful.*’ H HESE words often come to our mind, perhaps for two reasons! F irst,— because we are con tinually giving out th e Word of God which we count a very high and holy privilege. Second;—-be cause we see the proof of th e tru th therein contained. Let us illu strate. In one of th e camps, during th e long sum mer evening, we were holding an out door meeting, using th e text 1 John 2 :16 : “F o r all th a t is in th e world, the lu st of the flesh, and th e lu st of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of th e F ath e r, bu t is of th e world.”- ; We do not know of a b etter Scripture to bring conviction to th e sinner th a n this, es pecially when th e fa c t-o f the sinn er’s lu st is emphasized. This we did, so plainly and fearlessly th a t one of th e men became angry and yelled to the o ther men to have nothing to do w ith -us, “because,'’ he said, “ they are declar ing publicly our secret lives.” If he had spoken truly, he would have said “ our secret sins.” O thers took our tracts, to re them up and scattered them to the winds, the resu lt being almost a riot. But God, our protector, always has some one on hand to hinder vio lence, and one man spoke up saying, “Keep still and let us h ear the tru th .” When they saw th a t all of th e men were not w ith them they quieted down and walked away, leaving us to ta lk quietly w ith a few who were interested. “The Word of God is quick and powerful,” and, praise God, it’s “ sharper th a n a two-edged sword.” A V ital Message T h at Saves Now for fu rth e r illu stration of the Word as a life giver. In one of our visits to th e County Hospital we had an interview w ith a young Mexican whose left foot had been am putated as th e resu lt of an auto accident. On leav ing we gave him p, Testam ent and told him to read it faithfully. On a recent visit, we asked hijn if he read the Testa ment, and he said th a t he had nearly read it all through.
