DR. DIXON’S MINISTRY AT LARGE Dr. A. C. Dixon preached and lectured during th e summer a t four Bible Con ferences; Montrose, Ridgecrest, Winona Lake and Montreat. The Montrose Con ference was well attended and of un usual sp iritual power. The R idgecrest Conference, located on the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains eighteen miles from Ashville, North Carolina, is the Summer Assembly of th e Southern Baptists, who came th e re from all the Southern states. Dr. Livingstone Mays, a pre-m illennialist, is Superintendent. L ast year an excursion of eight hundred people came one day from Dr. Dixon’s native county to hear him preach and four hundred others were left standing on the railroad platform , unable to get seats on th e train . Montreat is the Summer Assembly of Southern Presby terian s and is about four miles from Ridgecrest. W. B. Single, of Union Seminary, Richmond, V irginia, th e Su perintendent, is a post-m illennialist, but he does not, like some others, go into hysteria when pre-m illennialists are mentioned. There are two good hotels and about two hundred and fifty cot tages in the primeval forest and a new auditorium , seating about five thousand, is n ear completion. W inona Lake Conference, under the leadership of Mel T ro tter, was th is year a g reat blessing to th e thousands who attended. Their new auditorium , erect ed through the leadership and liberality of Billy Sunday, seats eight thousand and has good acoustics. The best meeting of the day was a t 6:30 A. M. when about a thousand came together for prayer and testimony concerning prayer, bu t a t all meetings the air seem ed electric w ith sp iritual power, as is ap t to be th e case when prayer is given a prom inent place.
