H ow late is m y train?” asked the young woman traveler. “ Oh, just a few minutes,” the station agent answered carelessly. And then to her next question he replied, “ Yes, you ’ll have time for a walk. Your train w ill be here in about an hour or maybe an hour and a half.” Ruth Lee smiled to herself at the statipn agent’s idea of “ just a few minutes” as she stepped out of the stuffy waiting room into the bright sunshine. W ou ld it reach the com er the mo ment Kay fell over the high curb into its path? “ Oh God , s a v e h e r,” M ary sobbed. Her heart and feet seemed heavy as lead, for even as she rushed after her child she knew she would be too, late to help her. Then before her misty eyes, there was a flash of blue; she heard the sound of screeching brakes, and in one glad instant she had Kay and a slender woman dressed in blue in her arms. The woman was Ruth
