The College of Menominee Nation implemented a community supported agriculture (CSA) pilot program in 2019 to provide 30 low-income families on the Menominee Indian Reservation with fresh, local produce. The CSA program operates through McDougal’s Farm, a l ocal organic farm located north of the reservation. McDougal’s Farm grows a diverse selection of quality produce raised with organic fertilizer and compost. The farm never uses synthetic fertilizers, chemicals, herbicides, or GMOs. After receiving funding through a USDA-NIFA Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers grant in November of 2018, we began advertising the CSA pilot program to the Menominee community.
