Oakland Promise FY 2024 Annual Report

AGES: 6 - 11

Oakland Promise’s Kindergarten to College (K2C) program inspires kindergarten through fifth grade students and their families to view education as a journey filled with possibilities. Through early college scholarships available to all Oakland public school students, career workshops, school celebrations that promote a college- bound identity, and college tours, K2C encourages students to see themselves as college-bound. To date, 44,000 kindergarteners have been awarded the $100 scholarship, planting seeds of hope and ambition for their futures, and can grow to $500 by the time they graduate from high school. In partnership with Oakland Unified School District and community-based organizations, K2C connects families to resources and guidance on college and career pathways to ensure they know their child has every opportunity to pursue college.

If I have a scholarship for college, it helps me get to college and I can do a sport or some- thing that helps me. One day, I want to go to UC Merced because my sister went there. Being a graduate would help give me oppor- tunities to look for a job.” ISABELLA B. Former K2C student
