ANNUAL REPORT 2022-23
FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD CHAIR
Dear HCA Community, I am pleased to present to you our 2022-23 Annual Report.
This past year is a tremendous reminder of the Lord’s provision and faithfulness to the HCA ministry. As you read the following pages, I hope you are encouraged by the Lord’s goodness to our school, inspired by the unique gifts our students discover and share, and filled with thanks for the faculty and staff that pour themselves into our students. It is amazing to see the beauty of Christ reflected in our students, teachers, and families. We have shared in the past our strategic growth plan and underlying six strategic pillars that are guiding our steps to mature and expand the ministry impact of HCA. By God’s grace, you will see in this report some of the significant progress being made. Through these efforts, we pray the heart of Jesus will be displayed more and more in the way we learn, teach, give, coach, pray, and serve within the HCA community. Please celebrate the past year with us and join us anew in proclaiming Christ’s excellencies through every thought, word, and deed. Thank you again for your support in educating and equipping this generation of young Christian leaders.

CHRIST SHINING THROUGH Families, Churches, & HCA
Heritage Christian Academy believes that the success of every student is built on the combined efforts of the family, their church, and the school. HCA operates under a covenant model , coming alongside the home and church to train students how to live the Christian life and creating a distinctly Christian community for every student to thrive. We are witnesses to God’s faithfulness when church, home, and school are unified around a commitment to the truth of Scripture and desire for God- centered teaching. For HCA students, Christ permeates every aspect of their upbringing.
As the HCA School Pastor, it is my honor to communicate and promote the HCA Mission across our various constituencies (School Board/Admin team/Faculty/Students/Coaches/Parents/Church). I strive to strengthen the HCA community's unity of mind, heart, and actions around our mission. I also take a lead role in the effort to ensure that Biblical truth is integrated holistically throughout the curriculum and activities of HCA. A key part of our school mission is to assist families and churches in the development of a Biblical worldview. The Strategic Plan established a Biblical Integration Program led by Mr. James Hoskins and myself. In addition, as the School Pastor I provide general guidance and counsel to our administrative team and teachers about integrating Biblical truth into every aspect of our curriculum. It is my great endeavor to build unity among staff, parents, and students around our mission of helping young people develop a Biblical worldview and Christian character. HCA students learn and “do” Christian theology, cultivating the mind, heart, and habits of a disciple of Jesus Christ. They do more than learn ethics — they build Christian virtue. Our students are a part of God’s Kingdom. Our prayer is that every HCA scholar will give honor to Christ, strengthen their own Christian faith and character, and encourage others to do the same. STUDENT LEADERSHIP Flourishing at HCA
Kindness Council, 1-5 Kindness Council is comprised of students who have been given the Daniel Esther award. These students demonstrate servant leadership with their classmates and a desire to follow Jesus.
MS Student Council, 6-8 MS Student Council serves the MS student body by planning events that build community, organizing service opportunities, recognizing each student's birthday, and cleaning the hallway daily. We hope that these opportunities develop godly leadership skills in its members.
Ambassadors, 9-12 HCA Student Ambassadors represent Jesus Christ and the core tenants of HCA to the student body primarily, and secondarily to staff, visitors of HCA, and the larger community while helping foster these tenants in the lives of others.
National Honor Society, 11-12 NHS is an invitation-only honor for students committed to scholarship and excellence. NHS focuses on growing Christ-like character, scholarship, leadership, and service with a purpose of contributing to the broader local community.
HS Student Council, 9-12 HS Student Council works alongside faculty, administration, and the student body to enhance the overall HCA experience, serve the families of HCA, foster unity and leadership within the school community, and develop Christian leadership characteristics among its members.
At HCA, our student leadership initiatives foster an environment where students can develop Christian character through teamwork, cooperation, communication, problem-solving, empathy, navigation of diverse perspectives, and accountability. HCA student leaders enhance the Charger community by building culture, passion, and grit. Students flourish with leadership opportunities that feed their individual growth as well as their future roles as community leader-servants. STEPHEN SPRAGUE Dean of Students, Upper Campus

We Thank God for You! Family and Friends, I am pleased to present to you our 2022- 23 Annual Giving Report. Looking back on the past year fills me with gratitude for the Lord’s faithfulness to Heritage Christian Academy and for the generosity of supporters like you. From our students and parents, to volunteers and donors, to faculty and staff, we are
surrounded by an amazing and generous community , and we are grateful for the important role each plays in the health, growth, and success of HCA. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing story after story of people who donate financially to our ministry because they believe so strongly in our mission and want to impact young lives for Christ. Exceeding our annual goal with $460,000 in giving is a testimony to the Lord’s faithfulness and your willingness to be used by Him to further our mission. Thank you! There are many ways to support HCA students and faculty with your time, talents, and financial gifts. Within these pages, I hope you see the fruit of your giving - a vibrant, innovative, and excellent Christian education for our young men and women . I hope you are encouraged by the Lord’s goodness and provision to our school and inspired to support and partner with us in the future. Thank you again for your commitment to HCA. FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP
Dear HCA Community, I am pleased to present to you our 2022-23 Annual Financials. I hope the content of the report leaves you encouraged by the Lord’s provision and our accomplishments through Him as we serve through the delivery of Christian Education.
In terms of operational achievements, Heritage Christian Academy has iteratively implemented operational improvements designed to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our business functions. Our commitment to maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for our students, faculty, and staff has been at the forefront of our operational endeavors. We have successfully implemented new systems and processes that streamline administrative tasks, ensure a smoother operation of daily activities, and provide a better experience for families as they interact with the school. Financially, Heritage Christian Academy has adhered to strong principles of fiscal discipline and stewardship. Our prudent financial management, coupled with the unwavering support of our community, has enabled us to invest in key areas such as infrastructure, technology, and professional development. These investments have further fortified our position as a leading educational institution, providing our students with the resources and facilities necessary for their holistic development as students and followers of Christ. As we reflect on the past year, it is evident that Heritage Christian Academy continues to thrive academically, operationally, and financially. These achievements would not have been possible without the collective effort and support of our dedicated faculty, committed staff, engaged parents, School Board, and generous donors. Your continued belief in our mission and commitment to excellence has propelled us forward. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the success of Heritage Christian Academy. We remain steadfast in our commitment to provide an outstanding, Christ-centered education and to foster an environment where every student can reach their full potential. Thank you for entrusting us with your financial support to educate and equip this generation of young Christian leaders. Please celebrate the past year of financial stewardship and success and join us in prayer for this vital ministry to Christian families.

CALLING ALL HCA FAMILY & FRIENDS It may seem counterintuitive that we end our Annual Report with a message about our Strategic Growth Vision and Plan.
However, this last page is really not the LAST PAGE but is meant to direct us to the next year and beyond. HCA has many more pages to write! If you read this Annual Report from start to finish, you will see that there is a lot of goodness… GOD IS INDEED GOOD! But what you can’t discern from this Report is that there are numerous parents and their children desiring to be part of this goodness and community . HCA has reached its limit to share this goodness with more children! We are praying and hoping that not only does GOD bless us with the means to expand our doors but that each one of you prepare to expand your hearts to welcome more. This community has too much talented skillsets, love, and faith not to share it a bit more. With that prayer, HCA has established a course to serve more Christian families than ever before. This “2030 Generations to Generations” HCA Strategic Growth Plan provides our entire community with a clear vison and path to build, strengthen and expand future years of student discipleship, academic, artistic, and athletic excellence and Biblical impact. We cannot stress enough that we will continue to rigorously hold fast to our Biblical vision, mission, and values as we implement this plan. We humbly ask God’s blessing on all that HCA accomplishes in the years to come. John Thong, Board Member John Thong TOGETHER, let’s start writing the next pages! 27
