Finally, Americans exist in a politically and emotionally charged environment where “public opinion makes tomor- row’s laws, and those laws be- come the next generation’s morals.” Would not tipping the scales of public opinion to once again support and de- fend the rights of children through the promotion of Nat- ural Family be a good thing? Our laws should protect and encourage the growth of that healthy family unit yet today’s laws appear to do just the op- posite. This means the foundation of America, the family, is being threatened which could easily leave the USA in the dump heap of former great so- cieties, like Rome, Greece,

Yet in the State of Ohio this past May, two legislators who intro- duced Ohio HB 262, asking that Ohio officially celebrate the aforementioned natural family, were met with immedi- ate disapproval by gay pride groups in Ohio.

We are talking about opposition to cele- brating a child first and evidence-based best practice when it comes to the family institu- tion, correctly referred to as a natural family. I also find it quite puzzling that when the LGBTQ plus community found out about this proposed bill, they acted so quickly to strongly oppose celebrating this common- sense lifestyle. I say that given their histor- ical strong stance on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion which has given them hundreds and hundreds of their own lifestyle celebra- tions throughout our county. Not to mention the creation of new laws that promote their lifestyle, but that’s another story. You’d think they would actually applaud the efforts of the Ohio Legislative branch for wanting to celebrate and encourage a prac- tice like the Natural Family. No, they don’t have to be part of the Natural Family cele- bration but should they not actually encour- age our efforts and be more welcoming of our desire to be included? Instead they actually seem to be threatened by the mere mention of celebrating this child-centered family. That just doesn’t make any sense if they truly believe in being welcoming to the pos- sibility of adding yet another member to our diverse Ohio community. Speaking of Ohio, it would also make sense that Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, along with other Ohio Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, remember that Ohio is a “welcoming state” as they review Ohio HB 262. It might be worthwhile for them to check with Ohio’s law enforcement and prison systems and find out what they think about more natural families in Ohio. I suspect that they might find support for this traditional family practice in the psy- chological, family counseling and teacher community as well. And yes, having more
celebrations in America annually yet not one of them honors the celebra- tion of a union of a man and woman — husband and wife respectively — loyally committed to each other for life with their children. There isn’t even one week set aside for this in- stitution or even a day. Incredible! Adding this fact to the obvious pos- itives that a natural family provides I am very optimistic about the pas- sage of this much needed addition to Ohio legislation and look forward to its passage in the very near future. I see it as a clear opportunity for both sides to find themselves in a united, by-partisan agreement given the in- clusivity and family health advan- tages of promoting the celebration of a Natural Family month. There is one other item worth men- tioning. That entails some of the noted “worries” that are being ex- pressed about the supposed dangers of having a celebration for the Natu- ral Family here in Ohio. For exam- ple, members of a few Gay/LGBTQ rights groups have mentioned single parents, fostering and adopting chil- dren along with other situations that are supposedly not a part of the Nat- ural Family vision. It would be inter- esting to see comparative statistics on the advantages and disadvan- tages of living in and out of a nat- ural family environment.
