Uniform Care
By following a few simple laundering tips, you can see to it that we all maintain a polished, professional look.
SPOT THE SPOTS In a business like ours, stains are part of the territory. But that doesn’t mean they should take a toll on your professional appearance. Check your clothes for stains after each use. If you notice any, get the garment in the wash right away. The longer a stain sits, the harder it is to remove. DITCH THE DUST Although we know powdered laundry detergents are often handy, many contain corrosive chemicals that can break down fabric over time and can even cause colors to fade and run. So stick to liquid detergents whenever possible. CHILL OUT Cold water helps preserve colors and minimize shrinking. It also gets clothes just as clean as warmer water. That’s why you should always opt for cold water when washing your uniform. THINK BEFORE YOU THROW Tossing your shirts in the wash with heavier items like jeans and pants not only increases the number of wrinkles, but it can also shorten the life of the garment. Whenever possible, wash heavier items separately. HANG IN THERE Despite their convenience, commercial dryers can damage fabrics over time. If you have the option, use a clothesline or drying rack instead. (If an air dryer is a must, don’t overdo it – remove your clothes while they’re still slightly damp to avoid shrinking.)
FLIP BEFORE YOU DIP Turning your garments inside out before washing not only helps prevent fading, but it also helps preserve embroidered and printed elements.
