Instruments BRINGING SOUND TO LIFE
Our performing arts program, Instruments, helps members gain confidence, express creativity, and develop more knowledge within the music community. The program consists of 60 minute sessions. Each session is adapted to fit the age of participants as well. Sessions include a short warm-up; a main activity of games, instruments origins; and a 10-minute cool-down. This semester, our curriculum included activities exploring rhythm, sound patterns, the cultural history of various instruments, and hands-on projects where members created their own instruments.
Learning Rhythms
A RHYTHMIC JOURNEY Our DCP El Camino Clubhouse has been alive with the pulse of Samba Batucada, a vibrant style of Brazilian percussion music. Each week, our young musicians gathered to explore the rhythms, beats, and coordination that bring this energetic genre to life.
Through hands-on practice and teamwork, members learned to play traditional instruments, mastered complex patterns, and built their confidence as performers. All their hard work culminated in a show-stopping final performance on May 9th, where they brought the house down with their energy, precision, and joy. It was more than just a performance—it was a celebration of culture, creativity, and community. Bravo to our El Camino drummers!
