WHERE DO YOU WANT TO BE IN 2040? LIVING LIFE BACKWARD

In March, I had an opportunity to lead our annual gathering of sales and operations leaders and share more about our plans for growth in the decades ahead. I advocated for the benefit of our organization and for us to live life backward. What I mean by living life backward is to look far enough ahead of where you are now to gain perspective. Imagine yourself at the next life milestone (e.g., getting married, buying a house, being debt-free, being an empty nester, retiring, etc.) or even just a decade from now. What would you want to be true of you as a person? What would you like to be said of you by those who matter to you and know you well? What would you want your finances or health to look like? You get the idea. Once we gain some perspective by looking further out instead of just focusing on the present, it’s easier to think about living life backward to achieve the desired outcome down the road. What would have to change now, this year or next, to be on the right path toward that destination or outcome you imagined much further down the road?

As we consider the same for Franklin

Building Supply and work backward from 2040, we are at a point where, to reach our full potential in 15 years, we need to start growing our footprint beyond our current locations. Expanding

and growing locations takes time and is best done at a measured pace, which

is why we started this process in earnest last year. Our first growth location will be a new facility around Idaho Falls. While we’re working to purchase land and build that location, we’ll simultaneously pursue additional growth opportunities in areas in or around Idaho that make the most sense for our business long term. We will work backward from desired milestones and outcomes in 2040 to shape decisions today and in the year ahead. You may wonder why we invest time and money in new locations while current locations still need improvements. Good question. First, that will always be the case, so if it stops us now, it will stop us later. But more importantly, these are not either-or situations. We are in a place where we can continue to improve and reinvest in existing facilities while still pursuing new ones. It’ll always be a balancing act, but we’re considering our company in 2040 and answering, “If we were sitting here in 2040, what would we wish we had done in 2025,” and making that our priority. What would it look like for you to consider taking the same approach with your team or in your personal life? –Levi Smith CEO

High Fives!

WOW From: KC Croner, Fruitland To: Tyler Stanzel and Corey Garcia, Fruitland Door

One of our builders needed a few last-minute things done to satisfy a more difficult customer. Tyler and Corey did a sidelight install and added four deadbolts to some doors the customer changed. This was above and beyond customer service, and these are the types of things that separate us from the other suppliers in the area! STRIVE

EASY From: Javan Stansell, Bellevue To: Fidel Castro Ruiz, Bellevue

A customer called needing to track his items. Fidel took excellent pictures of the handrail he delivered to the airport, and it made us look like pros. SAFE From: Gayle Proctor, Caldwell To: Gustavo Elias, Caldwell I observed Gus using a dolly to move boxes of nails rather than overexert himself. GUIDE From: David Inocencio, Jerome To: Cody Huft, Jerome I would like to recognize Cody for creating an Outstanding Delivery SOP, sharing his knowledge with others, and always doing what is necessary to help us accomplish our goals. I’m very proud of you, sir!

From: Mike Taylor, Boise Finish To: Garren Movius, Boise Finish

After only 9 days on the job, Garren fixed something that bugged him. While stitching jambs, it’s common to forget which handing you stitched last, so Garren designed and 3D printed an indicator that sits on top of the machine. When the last nail is fired, it bumps one side of the indicator causing the ball to roll to the other side. Now if he needs to walk away from that task, he has a visual indicator of which side he is on.

LOCATION HIGHLIGHT Recognizing Elko Yard’s Hard Work

The Elko Yard has undergone significant improvements in recent months, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the team. A lot of the progress made can be attributed to a shift in both the culture and organization of the yard, creating a more efficient and streamlined workspace. During his time as yard manager, Dathan Williams pulled the crew together to reorganize the yard, focusing on lean practices and setting the yard up for a great start in 2025. Dathan’s sharp customer service skills made him a good fit as account coordinator, and he moved into that role in mid-December. This opened an opportunity for yard lead Mikel Place to be promoted to yard manager, where he has been growing his skills. Further improvements to the yard are in the works and a key project will be redesigning the treated rack/awning area. Currently located in the center of the yard, this space will be reworked to improve accessibility for both staff and customers. This lean project is in its early stages, but the anticipated changes will make the products more accessible and the workspace more ergonomic. Taking the time now to provide space for product storage and crew

operations will position the yard well for the upcoming workload. TEAM RECOGNITION The Elko team has worked collaboratively to achieve these improvements, and several individuals have made notable contributions: • Mikel Place, in his new role, has been integral in keeping the pace, introducing new ideas, and reinforcing the positive culture of the yard. His leadership has helped guide the team toward continuous improvement and operational efficiency. • Brandon Fuller, who has been with the team for less than a year, has already taken on a leadership role in supporting Mikel and driving success in the yard. His innovative ideas have had a significant impact, and he shows great potential for further growth within the company. • Tim Alvarez, also with the team for under a year, has taken on responsibilities related to load building and customer service. His work developing shadow boards for tool organization has streamlined operations and increased efficiency across the yard.

• Robert Kalaveras joined the team less than two months ago. He is a go-getter and has quickly demonstrated a strong work ethic and a proactive attitude. Working closely with Brandon, the two bounce ideas off each other and have made changes based on their collaboration. Robert has a bright future with Franklin if he continues on his current path. While the reorganization process has involved multiple adjustments to fine-tune the system, the result has been a yard that is not only more efficient for the team but also better equipped to serve customers. Feedback has already been overwhelmingly positive, with many noting the yard is cleaner, more organized, and in the best shape it has been in years.

Gifts for 1 and 2 quarter will be arriving this Spring and then we will be back on our quarterly gifting schedule. We hope these “best in class” gift selections show how much we appreciate the dedication of our fellow employee owners and will be used and enjoyed for years to come. In the Spotlight

Shiloh Reflects Our Culture of Care and Commitment IN THE SPOTLIGHT

into the sky. Her prowess with the forklift and load building quickly surpassed others, and according to her manager, it was clear from her early days that she was destined for the dispatch role. When the opportunity arose, the decision to promote her was unanimous. In her current role, she’s extremely happy. “I love the day-to-day challenge dispatch brings, and knowing I am completely supported by my management and team members, I know I will always make the best decision for the customers and for our company,” Shiloh shares. Her ability to stay organized, remain composed under pressure, and multitask through the most difficult days is inspiring. An interesting tidbit about Shiloh is her nickname, “Little Foot,” inspired by a childhood battle with severe Club Foot that

left one foot three sizes smaller than the other. But if you think that slowed her down, think again. Shiloh brings the same resilience and determination to her work life that she did to overcome her medical challenges. Outside of work, Shiloh enjoys fishing and camping. Her life revolves around her family, her main source of motivation. She finds joy in the work she loves and the team she considers family. “Shiloh embodies Franklin and Franklin’s culture,” her manager noted. “She is one of the kindest people I have ever met and truly wants to do what is right for our customers and our company.”

Here at Franklin Building Supply, we are all about our team members, and among these amazing people, Shiloh Page really stands out. As a Dispatch Specialist at our Boise location, Shiloh has been orchestrating logistics for the past three years, ensuring every delivery is on time and every day runs seamlessly. Shiloh’s journey with us began in the yard, where she handled return processing and will- call services with a level of customer service that didn’t just raise the bar — it launched it

Shiloh, here’s to many more years of serving the best customers together!
