Frontier Co-op 2022 Biennial CSR Report

ACCESSIBLE AND RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION One major barrier we identified early on was transportation. Employees, especially those who are working through our apprenticeship program, or who were hired through second chance hiring practices and may still be living in a residential work release facility, face significant challenges securing reliable and public transportation options in our region. To address this, Frontier Co-op once again turned to our local non-profit partner, Willis Dady Homeless Services. We provided financial support to help Willis Dady purchase a van and the non-profit employs drivers from their employment services program to drive that van out to our Norway facility three times per day — once for each shift. This program is another perfect example of how Doing Good, Works. Our community benefits from Willis Dady’s ongoing programming, and our employees benefit from a safe and reliable transportation system that takes them to and from work each day. Subsidized by Frontier Co-op, employees pay just $5 per day round trip for the more than 20-mile commute.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) We continue to listen to our community partners and evolve our program to meet the needs of individuals in our region. In the last couple years, we’ve seen an influx of immigrants and refugees into our surrounding communities, who are all in need of employment to gain stability in their new lives here. In light of this, we’re excited to share that we’ve begun work on a new support program providing English as a Second Language courses for our employees. More details to come!
