Frontier Co-op 2024 Biennial Sustainability Report

FLEXIBLE AND AFFORDABLE CHILDCARE As finding accessible, affordable childcare continues to be a challenge for so many working parents, espe- cially in rural communities, Frontier Co-op is proud to offer on-site childcare for all its Norway, Iowa, employ- ees – something we’ve done since 1976. Our subsidized childcare facility currently serves 77 employees and 110 children, and costs employees roughly $110 per child per week. The number of children we can care for expands in the summer when we provide a day camp as parents require more support when school is out. Additionally, we provide wraparound care for our employees’ children by working with our local school district to make our headquarters a pick-up and drop-off location before and after school. Parents can bring their kids to work in the morning where they can wait at the childcare facility to be picked up by the bus and taken to school. After school, they’re dropped off at the childcare facility and parents, on their way out at the end of the day, simply walk down to the childcare facility to pick up their kids. We also recognize childcare is an incredibly important and personal decision for families, and some may choose another provider. For those families, and for those that work at another Frontier Co-op facility and don’t wish to make an extra trip to Norway, Frontier Co-op offers a subsidized reimbursement program that helps cover the cost of childcare services.

Being able to split my work life and my ‘mom life’ has been really important to me. It showed me that I can get wherever I want to in life and I can show my children that.
