ACCESSIBLE AND RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION In many cases, a major barrier to employment, especially in a rural community like Norway, Iowa, is the lack of reliable transportation. To address this, Frontier Co-op once again turned to our local non-profit partner, Willis Dady Homeless Services. We provided financial support so Willis Dady could purchase a van, employ drivers through their employ- ment services program, and drive the van to our Norway facility three times per day – once for each shift. Subsidized by Frontier Co-op, employees pay just $5 per day round trip for the more than 20-mile commute. As a result, the business benefits from the hard work and dedication of the employees who have a ride to work, and the employees who need transportation get a ride to work, making it easier to keep their jobs and achieve financial independence and stability.

NEXT LEVEL SAVINGS PROGRAM Another barrier to long-term stability and success is a lack of financial security. Recently Frontier Co-op aimed to break down this barrier by part- nering with Dupaco Community Credit Union to launch Next Level Savings, an employee savings matching program. Through this program, over the course of a year, employees work with a financial coach and participate in financial litera- cy training to develop a habit of saving for long- term goals. Upon completion, participants who have made regular deposits of a minimum of $10 per paycheck into their savings account and save at least 75% of their goal identified at the start of the program (and a minimum of $250), receive a match from Frontier Co-op of up to $1,000 per year. Roughly 30 employees have utilized this program.
