our sinless Saviour was able to keep the whole law; that is why He could be our perfect substitute on the cross. If a man is going to try to get to Heaven by the works of the law, then let him keep the whole law, or he has broken it and "come short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet of fend in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:10). “Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgres sions, till the seed [Christ, Gal. 4:4,5] should come. . . . Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmas ter" (Gal. 3:19,24,25). (Read all of Galatians; Eph. 2:8-10; Titus 3:5; Rom. 3:19-28). ^ QUE.: What is the difference between water baptism and the bap tism of the Holy Spirit? Water baptism is a baptism unto Christ’s death. In my baptism I con fess that I have died to the old life as a man in Adam under the domin ion of sin. The Holy Spirit does not baptize into death, but into the one new body, which is the Church. The Holy Spirit baptizes into thé mystidal body of Christ. (See 1 Cor. 12:12,13). ^ QUE.: What is meant by “ the mark of the beast” (Rev. 13:16, 17)? These two verses, together with the one just preceding them, plainly in dicate that all those who refuse to worship the antichrist and his image in that coming day will have to starve. They will not be able to buy or sell ^without in some way, called here re ceiving “the mark of the beast,” let ting the world know that they give al legiance and worship unto him. Thank God! There will be many who will prefer martyrdom to wor shiping Satan’s masterpiece in the earth. God never leaves Himself with out a witness in the world. 27

ness in the wqrld, the Holy Spirit will operate in the earth during the tribulation period, even as He did in Old Testament times. He came upon certain individuals then, anointing them for service. His mission for the Church age, indwelling the members of the body of Christ, which is the Church, will end at the rapture. But He will seal the 144,000 Jews during the tribulation period and empower their testimony. The Church, however, will have been completed; and He will not operate then as He does now in the world. It will be a different min istry. Let tt be remembered that there can be no conversion, in any age, without the quickening power of the Holy Spirit ^ QUE .: If salvation is all of grace, and works do not have a part in God’s plan of redemption, why did Christ answer the lawyer’s question in Luke 10:25 as He did? The lawyer asked, “Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” Christ answered by telling him the Story of the good Samaritan. Then fie said, “Go, and do thou like wise.” Surely this proves that works play a part in the scheme of salva tion. If you read the chapter carefully, you will have no difficulty in under standing why the Lord so answered the lawyer. The man was seeking to justify himself by keeping the law. jle asked, "What must I do to inherit Sternal life?” He desired to know jtow to get to Heaven on the ground pf “doing." The Lord answered by quoting the law, and gave the story pf the good Samaritan, that he might Know how to interpret the meaning pf the word "neighbor." The Lord’s answer was to convict him, and to Show him his inability to be saved on the ground of works. The same lesson was taught by the Lord to the rich young ruler. That young man also sought salvation by “doing,” but was both unable and un willing to keep the whole law by lov ing his neighbor as himself. Only

^ QUE .: 1 Corinthians 6 :3 states that Christians shall “judge an* gels.” Who are these angels, and when will t h i s judgment take place? The angels are those referred to In Jude 6: “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains u n d e r darkness unto the judgment of the great day” (cf. 2 Peter 2:4). The likelihood is that the judgment of these angels will take place at the great white throne, where wicked men are to be judged, though there is no definite statement to that effect in the Word of God. The part Christians will have in judging angels is not revealed. And what God has not seen fit to tejl us, we leave with Him, accepting His Word for it, on faith. ^ QUE.: Does Romans 11:26 teach that every Jew will he saved? “And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Ja cob.’’ No, Paul was referring to the na tional restoration of Israel, \vhen Christ returns in glory to establish His millennial kingdom. In that age, as in every age, every man who is regenerated, whether Jew or Gentile, must be bom again by a personal faith in the death of Christ as an atonement for his sin. Many Jews will become apostate and accept the claims of the anti christ. These Daniel describes in Dan iel 12:2 as those who “shall awake . . . to shame and everlasting con tempt" ^ QUE.: Where will the Jloly Spirit be after the translation of the Church? The Church is “the temple of the Holy Spirit”; and when the rapture takes place, the Holy Spirit will go with the Church. However, He is omnipresent; for He is God, equal with the Father and with the Son. Because He is God, and because God never leaves Himself without a wit- NOVEMBER, 1946
