(Continued from Page 13) statement about the blood of Jesus Christ having the power to cleanse from all sin has become so common place that somehow we lose its deep significance (1 John 1:7). The Blood Blood is the symbol of life. “The life of the flesh is in the bldod” (Lev. 17:11). The difference between a corpse and a liye person is that in one the blood courses through his veins, and in the other it does not. Further, outpoured blood is a symbol of life given. The blood which Jesus spilt on the Cross, then, signified the outpouring of His life. He Had power to lay down His life, and willingly He sacrificed it that we niight live. And now, when we speak and sing about being "washed in thé blood of the Lamb,” we do not meail that the blood itself still exists, but that by virtue of Calvary, God receives the sinner. The Blood of JesusI Yes, it was the blood of Jesus, the human One! It was rich, \Varm, hu man blood He shed. The One who was so kind, sympathetic, and com passionate, allowed His blood to be poured out for friend and foe alike. The Blood of Jesus ChHstl It was the blood of Cnrist, the anointed One. So the blodd of the Cross was also royal blood, the blood of the Messiah, the blood of a King. Thus, .when He died, He shed the blood not of a poor, despised Jew or Nazarene, but of the Sent Orie of God. The Blood of Jesus Christ, kis Son! His Son! So the blood shed upon the Cross was the blood of the divine One. And it is this fact that adds efficacy to the blood. Had it been the blood of an ordinary man, it would never have availed for men, But, be cause it was the blood of God, there is power in Christ’s shed blood (Acts 20:28). The blood of the God-Man! "The blood* of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin ” (1 John 1:7). Yes, it cleanses from all kinds and acts of sin. Oh, the countless victories of the blood! May we nevèr tire of exalting its glorious triumphs. The blood, as we have seen, represents the finished work of Christ at Calvary for sinners everywhere, and John sings of three glorious virtues of the blood of God’s dear Son: Its cleansing is perpetual, personal, and perfect. There is a further truth tb be em phasized in the act of trknsfusion which surgery made possible. The Bible. Institute of Los Aneeles maintains a Jewish Department whose ministry deals with the preaching of the Gospel to God’s ancient people, Israel. From this office go out thou sands of pieces of literature especially prepared to interest the Jews. Also many of the students are engaged in visitation work, calling upon the Jewish people and inviting them to the meetings. Teams of students hold regular street meetings in places where an audience can be secured. Various prayer meetings are held and every Sunday at 4 p. m. in the lower auditorium of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles a mass meeting is held with fine speakers. It is He who applies the blood as the sinner turns to the Saviour. Some there are, professing to be re fined, who scoff at the Gospel of shed blood, calling it “a slaughterhouse re ligion.” They forget, however, that the animals thus slain are killed to help maintain their own physical life. Man may reject the blood of Christ, but, without it, he is hopelessly lost, for "it is the blood that maketh an atone ment for the soul” (Lev. 17:11).
