Total prize money across the four days comes to £4,815,000

From Prestbury Cup winners to the number of sandwiches consumed over the four-day period, there is a number for almost everything at the Cheltenham Festival

In 2022, a record number of 280,627 people attended the racecourse during the Cheltenham Festival. Attendance during the Cheltenham Festival triples the town’s population during the week and is worth an estimated £100 million to the local economy. Catering Over 10,000 gallons of tea and coffee are served at the Cheltenham Festival. While around 12,000 people each day will sit down to three- or four-course lunches in the various restaurants and hospitality areas, the remainder of the crowd will eat into a pile of burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches, that if laid end to end, would stretch over three miles!

The Prestbury Cup First awarded in 2014, the Prestbury Cup cements the Anglo-Irish rivalry at the Cheltenham Festival and is awarded to the country where the most winners are trained from over the four days. Ireland has the upper hand in the Prestbury Cup since its inauguration, winning it six times compared to two wins for Great Britain. There was a draw in 2019.
